Multicolored Asian Lady Beetles

Kind of gross, huh? While not particularly dangerous to the durability of the house, these Multicolored Asian Lady Beetles can certainly be a nuisance! The don’t eat anything in the house such as food, fabric, or building materials, but they can leave behind a yellow staining. At this time of year, the enter the house to find a warm place to over-winter. In this case, they were found in a crawlspace of a home. According to the USDA https://www.ars.usda.gov/oc/br/lbeetle/index/#prevention spraying insecticides isn’t necessarily recommended due to the potential impacts for people living in the home unless there is a large infestation. Sweeping or vacuuming them up can be the safest approach.

For our project, we are going to have to have them removed before we insulate and encapsulate the crawlspace.
